英火車擬推高速網路服務

英國運輸大臣麥洛林今天宣布，鐵路運輸業者計劃在部份繁忙的路段推出高速行動寬頻服務，估計到2019年，70%的乘客都可以使用快速上網服務。

麥洛林（Patrick McLoughlin）指出，目前鐵路運輸業者提供的網路服務並不理想，今天的宣布，代表未來乘客搭火車上網將有更好的連結。

英國火車管理公司Network Rail已斥巨資更新電信設備，新的光纖網路計畫預定2014年6月完成，屆時每秒約可以處理高達19萬2000Gbit的資料，乘客將可以在手機上看影音節目。

Network Rail公司發言人表示，如果火車要成為民眾喜愛的運輸工具，必須要解決上網服務受限的問題，未來相關設備更新後，將能造福每天數百萬搭火車的乘客。

目前倫敦地鐵多數車站已有無線網路服務，但是使用者必須上網登記，如果家中使用的寬頻網路或行動電話與無線網路業者有合作，可以免費使用上網服務，否則必須另外付費。
