一名早前確診感染H7N9禽流感的80歲男病人26日在香港瑪嘉烈醫院去世。這是香港首宗人類感染H7N9後死亡的個案。

根據京華時報報導，該名男病人6日確診為香港第二宗人類感染H7N9禽流感個案，患者長居深圳，因為糖尿病問題3日經深圳灣口岸返回香港求醫，直至6日才出現發燒情況。

瑪嘉烈醫院當日表示，該名病人的隔離令12月17日完結。該名病人的死因仍需進一步調查確認。院方已將有關個案呈報香港衛生防護中心及醫院管理局總辦事處，將由裁判官跟進。

香港大學感染及傳染病中心總監何栢良當日對媒體表示，出現的死亡案例並不代表香港的風險提高。該病人本身有心臟問題，感染禽流感後，較容易出現併發症致死。
