韓國國防部宣布，原定於8日展開的美、日、南韓三國聯合海上軍演，因為丹娜絲颱風攪局，被迫暫停。北韓軍方照例對軍演提出警告，並下令軍隊備戰，威脅說：「美軍靠得愈近，將會面臨不可預料的後果。」

美日韓聯合軍演原定8至10日在日本海舉行，美軍派出核動航空母艦「喬治華盛頓號」（USS George Washington）、飛彈驅逐艦、飛彈巡洋艦與核潛艦等參加；日本海上自衛隊與南韓海軍也各自派出神盾級飛彈驅逐艦參加。

不過，由於丹娜絲颱風攪局，美軍參演船艦只能停泊在釜山港，靜待指示。

儘管美國聲稱這次演習項目為海上搜救演練，不過北韓方面「照例」對演習發出警告，北韓人民軍總參謀部發言人表示:「美國帝國主義的侵略將招來可怕災難，美國必須負起完全責任。」並表示，北韓軍隊也已接獲指令，「保持全面待命，準備隨時展開作戰」。
