英國紐基某中學的15歲學生泰勒·霍金斯(Tyler Hawkins)因其運動鞋上的白色部分不符合該校著裝規定，而被老師逐出課堂。他的老師還要求他用黑色標記筆將鞋子白色部分塗黑。其母親傑瑪(Gemma)對此表示強烈憤慨，並認為該做法十分過分。

中新網據英國《每日郵報》報導，該中學擁有1620名學生，其著裝規定中聲明學生必須穿純黑色鞋子。而傑瑪認為該規定既瑣碎又過分，並且也無益於孩子的學習，只會因貧窮孩子沒錢買新校服而助長恃強欺弱之風。傑瑪講到：『我覺得十分懊惱，泰勒自9月份就開始穿此類鞋子，並無人過問。而且買校服價格不菲，我有三個孩子但也未獲任何幫助。』傑瑪表示她正考慮將在該校就讀的兩個孩子轉學，並不打算讓小兒子在這裡就讀。

該中學校長莎拉·高斯威爾( Sarah Goswell)表示，她對此類做法並不知情，在未與該學生及其母親交流之前不便發表評論，但她強調這並非常規做法，老師也很少將學生逐出課堂。她講到：『我們希望能堅持實行著裝規定是為了使孩子們乾淨整潔，但我們也意識到其實施需張弛有度。』
