勞斯萊斯開發出無人駕駛船

不讓亞馬遜（Amazon）無人飛機與Google自動駕駛車專美於前，勞斯萊斯（Rolls-Royce）也開發出無人駕駛貨船一較高下。

勞斯萊斯的Blue Ocean研發小組「海上無人導航計畫」獲得歐盟350萬歐元（480美元）補助後，已設計出無人駕駛貨船原型。這項計畫意在解決歐洲海域過於擁極、環境標準提高的問題。

勞斯萊斯的自動駕駛船無須仰賴船員與空調、電力與汙水處理系統，理論上來說成本較低。勞斯萊斯創新、工程與科技部門副總裁雷梵德說，無人駕駛船安全性較高，產生的汙染也較少。

電子化導航系統與無人駕駛船可能搖撼產值3,750億美元的航運業。不過依照現行的國際法，無人駕駛船因為達不到法定最少的船員人數標準，仍屬於違法。
