美國長期失業者 恐領不到救濟金

紐約時報報導，除非美國國會立即行動將失業救濟金的發放期限延長，否則今年12月最後1周，美國將有130萬名長期失業者無法再領到失業救濟金，明年第一季將再有85萬失業者將領不到錢。

儘管國會民主黨議員及白宮都再度催促國會延長發放期限，但由於2014年度預算案尚未解決，因此議員表示國會還剩兩周就要休會，因此要通過延長救濟金發放期限的法案機會渺茫。如此一來美國在經濟衰退之後規模最大的刺激經濟措施之一，便將告一段落。估計到2014年底時，總共將有480萬人會因為這項措施期滿而受到打擊。
