詐騙案件層出不窮，根據刑事局統計，2006年是詐騙案件的最高峰，總共民眾遭到詐騙的金額高達195億，去年降到40億元，損失金額和案件數也逐年遞減。警方估計，經過大家的努力，今年民眾被詐騙金額，可望下降到36億元。

詐騙集團有多可惡？賺錢的方式有多輕鬆？從警方的數據就可略知一二。根據統計，2006年是詐騙案件的高峰，全年詐騙案有4萬多件，總共財損金額高達195億元，簡直就是中型企業的年營收。也由於詐騙案氾濫，民眾叫苦連天，政府開始重視，不僅警方強力宣傳，並成立165專線，隨著兩岸合作密切，持續掃蕩藏在大陸電信機房，因此，重創了詐騙集團。

刑事局主任秘書紀明謀表示，預估今年詐騙案件約一萬多件，金額可望降到36億元。「去年下降到2萬件以下，1萬7千多件，被騙金額差不多有40億元左右，今年我們推估，又下降了幾千件，我們推估到年底，被騙金額約36億元左右。」

警方表示，最常見的詐騙手法包含網路購物、假冒公署、假綁架、剝皮酒店、猜猜我是誰等，民眾接到不明電話有疑問，撥打165專線查證比較保險。
