陸軍下士洪仲丘枉死案，不只造成高華柱與楊念祖二任國防部長下台，更讓軍中人事鬥爭浮上檯面。

根據最新一期《新新聞》報導，現任國防部長嚴明與陸軍司令過去在卡位「參謀總長」這寶座，早已產生心結。報導稱，李翔宙擔任過軍種司令，且在今(2013)年8月16日即任滿兩年，是最符合接任參謀總長的人選。

不過，馬英九總統力排眾議，在今年1月任命只剩11個月就要屆齡64歲退伍的空軍司令嚴明升任參謀總長，引發李翔宙的不滿。根據《聯合晚報》8月9日報導，高華柱在國防部長任內積極推動參謀總長延任案，但始終無法在立法院通過，國防部懷疑是李翔宙從中作梗，因而與李產生心結。

李翔宙本月7日下午請假，缺席國防部長嚴明主持的會議，並於日前遞出辭呈，被媒體解讀為軍中人事鬥爭檯面化。

對於媒體報導，嚴明16日接受媒體訪問時澄清，一直很誠懇地要慰留李翔宙，並肯定他在軍中的表現；嚴明表示，還是要李翔宙協助作戰訓本務工作。
