睽違9個月，洋基隊長Derek Jeter終於回來了！傷癒歸隊後的首打席就敲出安打，另外還跑回1分、進帳1打點，洋基領袖重回先發，隊友也用球棒力挺，第5局灌進4分，以8比4逆轉擊敗皇家，拿下2連勝。

「我很緊張，這對我來說就好像開幕戰，儘管我們已經在…幾月？7月啦！我已經過到不知道幾月了。」Jeter表示，「球迷們很棒，給我相當熱烈的歡迎。」

皇家和洋基4連戰的最後一場比賽，儘管皇家開局就取得3比0領先，但鎂光燈全都聚焦在Jeter身上，他這場比賽擔任指定打擊、打第2棒，Jeter首打席對第一球做攻擊，敲出一支內野安打，隨後Robinson Cano敲安推進，Vernon Wells補上高飛犧牲打，替洋基追到1比3。

「我昨天就下定決心，要對第一球作攻擊！」Jeter表示。就在他敲出安打後，全場4萬多名球迷高喊著「"De-rek Je-ter！De-rek Je-ter！」

皇家2局上又有斬獲，不過，洋基很快還以顏色，Austin Romine的二壘打先追回1分，接下來鈴木一朗也揮出安打，洋基將比數追成3比4。
