日經225指數2日以紅盤(14,492.47點)開出後，受美國財政問題前景不明、以及日圓走升等因素影響而翻黑走跌；午盤後在期貨賣壓湧現下、拖累跌幅大幅擴大。日經225指數終場大跌2.17%(或跌314.23點)，收14,170.49點，創約1個月來(9月6日以來)收盤新低水準、並創1個半月來(8月20日以來；當日跌2.63%)最大單日跌幅紀錄。
東證一部指數(TOPIX)終場跌1.53%(或跌18.28點)，收1,175.16點。東證一部上漲家數414家、下跌家數1,224家、維持平盤家數110家；全部33類股中僅情報通信業和電氣瓦斯業2類股上揚、其餘全數下挫，其中以非鐵金屬、其他金融業和精密機器類股跌幅較大。
東證一部今日成交額為2兆4,059億日圓，創約2週來(9月19日以來)新高水準；成交量為29億股，持續超越顯示買氣活絡界線的「20億股」水準。
根據嘉實XQ全球贏家系統報價，截至紐約匯市10月1日尾盤為止美元兌日圓貶值0.37%至97.93；截至日本股市2日收盤為止(台北時間上午10點30分為止)美元兌日圓報97.65。日圓走升，拖累出口股走跌。夏普重挫2.82%，收344日圓。
日本媒體朝日新聞2日報導，日本數位相機(DSC)廠Panasonic計畫停止自家生產低價DSC產品、轉而向外採購(委外生產)。Panasonic跌1.05%，收942日圓，盤中一度大漲1.8%。
日經新聞2日報導，日本電玩大廠任天堂(Nintendo)即將於近期內停產Wii遊戲機，主因次世代機種「Wii U」開賣後，拖累Wii銷售量持續減少。任天堂重挫2.69%，收10,870日圓。

【綜合報導】美國知名長壽劇動畫《辛普森家庭》，目前正在美國撥出第25季，日前執行製作艾爾珍(Al JEAN)接受英國太陽報訪問時爆料表示，在第25季中其中一個角色，將面臨領便當的命運。 艾爾珍沒有直接透露是哪位成員將被賜死，只表示：「我可以給大家一個線索，幫死掉角色配音的人得過艾美獎，但我不能說那是誰。」

國道計程收費預計年底前上路，高公局公布費率，每車每天免費里程20公里，200公里以內每公里收1.2元，超過200公里則每公里收0.9元，以台北到高雄單程342公里計算，計程收費金額為342元，較現行計次收費360元便宜18元。
不過計程收費後，有民眾抱怨要多付錢，相當不滿。對此，交通部長葉匡時表示，少數人會覺得國道計程收費是漲價，但這不是漲價，因為過去已經有太多人占了便宜。

【綜合報導】一名美國攝影師，在非洲拍攝到一頭母大象，用象鼻溫柔地撫摸死去同伴的感人照片，而且牠還留在同伴伏屍地點默默守候。其實動物有情有義並非特例，以下個案都是真實事件。 中國山東一隻初生小象，出生後遭媽媽嫌棄，不但將小象狂踩，更將牠當作足球般踼，管理員立即將牠們分隔。身受重傷的小象遍體鱗傷，痛得站不起來，躺在地上痛哭，紅腫的傷眼，流出兩行眼淚。管理員替小象擦去淚水，並輕拍安撫，牠目前正在康復中。 美國一隻雪橇犬因為老主人逝世，顯得十分傷心。牠躺在冰冷的墓碑上哭到抽搐，上氣不接下氣，主人輕撫牠的額頭，安慰道「我們也很想念祖母呢」，但牠依然難掩傷痛。 一隻白色的牛，站在屠房中等死，期間傳來機器屠宰的聲音，不知道是否出於死亡的恐懼，小牛眼睛流下晶瑩的眼淚，一臉無奈，片段結尾，小牛被捲進機械內壓碎。 日本有忠犬八公，阿根廷亦有一隻忠犬Capitan。老主人在2006年因病去世後，牠突然離家出走，家人遍尋不獲後發現，從未到過墳場的Capitan， 竟然自己找到路，守在老主人墳前，不願離開。家人及管理員嘗試將Capitan帶走，但總是失敗。目前Capitan由管理員協助照顧，早上牠會在墳場散步，晚上則在老主人墳前安睡。 美國肯塔基州警員埃利斯（Jason Ellis）今年5月執勤時被歹徒擊斃，他生前的警犬拍檔Figo，跟隨主人的同袍，在葬禮上輕撫主人棺木，作最後告別，Figo耳朵下垂，一臉哀傷。其他警員稱，Figo與埃利斯是最佳拍檔，埃利斯死後，Figo亦會退役，並肩負起陪伴埃利斯太太及小朋友的責任。 智利高速公路上一隻流浪狗被汽車撞到，奄奄一息。牠的同伴竟穿越馬路吃力地試圖將同伴拖走，當局之後雖然派人搜尋，但找不到兩隻流浪狗的下落。

記者胡健森／台北報導 內政部入出國移民署今（3）日表示，根據統計，從9月28日至10月日，團體及自由行陸客來台人數共5萬7027人，比去年同期的4萬661人多出了3成，顯示來台觀光陸客尚未受到大陸「旅遊法」影響。 中國大陸「旅遊法」施行後，恐將引發陸客來台觀光人數減少效應，但移民署今表示，根據近期的統計數字，來台陸客比去年還要增加。 但移民署也表示，近期陸客來台人數增加，主要受到大陸「十一」長假影響，帶動觀光熱潮，並不是外界所懷疑，是「低價團」為了趕在10月1日大陸「旅遊法」實施前送件。 移民署表示，因交通部自今年5月1日推動陸客來台觀光總量管制，另依據「大陸地區人民來台從事觀光活動許可辦法」，移民署規定旅行業辦理陸客團體旅遊，如當日申請超過7300名的上限，便列入翌日數額，但如果當日尚有賸餘數額，則不再留用。 另外，在自由行部分，每日受理申請2920名數額，也以相同方式配額控管，餘額不再留用。
